China
In China there are stories about how the rat tricked the cat so that he wasn't able to go to the banquet with the other animals and was thus left out of the chinese zodiac. There are several versions of the story. But in all of them the rat tricks the cat and this is why cats and rats don't get along. This story is also used in the manga Fruit Baskets by Takaya Natsuki
Black Cats
Black cats are considered unlucky and are associated with witches and evil. They are often used as Halloween decorations. During Halloween time there are people who kidnap and murder black cats so if you have one please keep it indoors around Halloween.
